  • I'm vegan. Are your waxes and products suitable for me?
Most of the waxes and products I use are vegan friendly, however there are a few that contain beeswax, honey or lanolin. As part of my consultation I will ask whether you are vegan and if so I will ensure all products used on you are vegan friendly.
  • Can I get waxed if I'm on my period?
Of course! It is absolutely fine for you to get waxed at the time of your period and I regularly wax people at this point in their cycle. All I ask is that you wear internal protection such as a tampon or menstrual cup. Please note that your pain threshold can be a bit lower in the few days before your period.
  • How should I prepare for my appointment?
Hair needs to be around 6mm long for me to wax so please don’t shave, tweeze or use hair removal creams for 3 week before your first appointment or between subsequent appointments. If the hair is shorter than this then it will make it more uncomfortable, take longer and may not achieve the best finish. Equally, if the hair is particularly long, the treatment can be more painful. In this situation it is best that you trim the hair to approximately 1cm long before your appointment. Gently exfoliating* your skin every few days until 3 days before your wax helps to remove any build up of dead skin and/or products that may be covering short hairs. This enables the wax to grab all of the hair and leave you with the best result. Please ensure you are fresh and clean when you attend your appointment. This will give you a better end result and be much nicer for me too! There is no reason for you to be self-conscious. We all consider ourselves to have flaws, but I’m not interested in looking at the size of your belly, bum or bits! I see various areas of naked bodies all day, every day and am only interested in removing the hair and ensuring the skin remains healthy. Please arrive on time for your appointment to ensure you receive the treatment/s you have booked.
  • How long does my hair need to be?
For best results the hair needs to be around 6mm long. Any shorter than this and the wax won't remove it as well. If the hair is particularly long then you are best trimming it to this length prior to your appointment. This will reduce discomfort. It's very important not to shave, pluck or use hair removal creams between waxes as this interrupts the growth pattern and will prevent you from getting the best results from your waxing treatments.
  • How often should I get waxed?
I recommend getting waxed at four to six week intervals depending on the speed of your hair growth. It can take several treatments for your hair growth to get in to a cycle that gives you the best results, therefore the speed of the regrowth for the first few waxes is very unpredictable.
  • What's the minimum age to get waxed?
It's less about age and more about which treatment you would like. I am happy to carry out waxing on unders 18s but only if a parent/guardian signs consent and remains in the room for the duration of the treatment. This not only safeguards the individual but also protects me. No intimate waxing (other than a female basic bikini) will be carried out on a person under the age of 18.
  • Will I need to get undressed?
In short, yes! In the same way that you wouldn't have a hair cut whilst wearing a hat, or get a manicure whilst wearing gloves, you can't get waxed unless the skin is uncovered! If you're having intimate waxing, you'll need to be naked from the waist down to get a perfect wax, so you will need to leave your modesty at the door. Please don't feel embarrassed. I am a professional and this is my job. All I am focussed on is removing hair.
  • What aftercare advice do you offer?
To get the best results from your wax, please follow the guidelines below: Some slight soreness and redness after waxing are common and perfectly normal temporary reactions, especially if it’s your first wax. This should settle over the next 24-48 hours but please get in touch if you have any questions or concerns. Keep the waxed area clean and avoid heat and friction for the next 24-48 hours. No hot baths or showers (cool to lukewarm water only) No saunas or hot tubs No tanning (sunbathing, sunbeds or fake tans) No sport, swimming, gym work or other vigorous exercise No scratching or scrubbing the treated area No sexual activity after intimate waxing No deodorants, body sprays, powders or lotions on the waxed area, other than those products recommended by your therapist Do wear clean, loose fitting clothes To prevent ingrown hairs: Starting a few days after your appointment gently exfoliate* the skin up to three times a week. Moisturise the area every day to keep the skin supple and helps new hairs to grow through the skin normally. The first few times you get waxed you may notice a small amount of regrowth occurs quite quickly. It can take several treatments for your hair to get in to a cycle that gives you the best results. Please don’t shave, tweeze or use hair removal creams between appointments as this will prevent you from getting the best results from your waxing. To maintain your smooth appearance we recommend regular waxing at 4 – 6 week intervals. *When it comes to exfoliation, gentle and often is the way to go. Please don’t use highly abrasive products or scrub vigorously. A gentle exfoliating product is best.
  • What's the difference between strip and non-strip wax?
Strip wax is applied to the skin and then removed using a paper or fabric strip. This works well for larger areas such as legs, backs and butt cheeks. Non-strip wax (also know as hot wax or peelable wax) works slightly differently. It is applied to the skin and then shrink wraps itself around the hairs. It is then removed without the use of paper or fabric strips. This type of wax works particularly well for facial and intimate waxing as it doesn't stick to the skin and therefore causes less discomfort. I never use strip wax on delicate areas such as the face, labia, and butt crack.
  • Is waxing painful?
I would love to tell you that you won't feel a thing but if there's one thing in life I hate it's liars! Pain is personal to everyone and whilst some people find waxing uncomfortable others almost nod off! Yes, really! People often ask which area is the most painful to have waxed. This is difficult to answer as it can differ for everyone. Contrary to what you might expect, the intimate areas are usually tolerated better than other areas such as the lop lip on female clients and the chest and stomach areas on male clients. Professional quality waxes and products alongside proven waxing techniques ensure your waxing is as comfortable as possible.
